The red and orange panelled ceiling at Neuilly
The signature of the place is its ceiling: a long frieze of lacquered vertical panels, from pale pink to deep red, running above the counter for the whole length of the room. Below, the stainless steel kaiten and its pale wood worktop are lined with cylindrical stools in graded pink and grey, backing onto a pink column. The large windows open onto the greenery of the avenue, the floor is dark terrazzo, and a grey fluted wall carries three framed posters of Japanese cityscapes. A shelf gathers art books, and a retro arcade cabinet waits in an alcove, in front of a collage of Japanese images.
