Conveyor belt sushi on rue du Bac: a Japanese experience in the heart of the 7th

Rue du Bac is one of the most emblematic streets on the Paris Left Bank. Between designer boutiques, art galleries and historic brasseries, it concentrates everything that gives the 7th arrondissement its charm: a natural elegance, a preserved neighbourhood life, and customers who know what they want.

It is in this setting that Matsuri chose to open, to offer an authentic Japanese restaurant experience that stands apart from the standardised sushi sometimes found in Paris.

Here, kaitenzushi regains all its nobility: plates prepared to order by our chefs, passing by in front of you continuously, inviting you to build your meal freely as you please. Every detail counts, from the freshness of the fish to the precision of the cut, by way of the creativity of recipes that blend Japanese tradition with contemporary inspiration.

What makes a sushi bar in the 7th arrondissement of Paris special?

The 7th is a demanding arrondissement. Well-off residents, diplomats, cultured tourists, local professionals: the customers who walk through the door of our sushi restaurant on rue du Bac are used to good tables and will not settle for the first thing they find.

That is why Matsuri Bac focuses above all on the quality of its produce and the authenticity of its recipes. No compromise on freshness, no rushed set menu: every plate gliding along the conveyor belt reflects expertise built up since 1998.

The experience appeals as much to regulars of Japanese cuisine as to the many foreign visitors passing through Paris in this neighbourhood, who often discover for the first time what a real kaitenzushi meal is. For all of them, the warm welcome of our team and the carefully designed atmosphere of the restaurant are part of the moment.

On rue du Bac, a room of arches and portholes

Behind a full-height window and the Matsuri sign in gold letters, the room can be read from the pavement: a run of white lacquered arches, ribbed with chrome and pierced with oval portholes. The ceiling, with rounded illuminated coffers and mirrored panels, is punctuated by white globes. The conveyor belt stretches away lengthwise, lined with stools with oval beige backs, and meets booths of sky blue and powder pink banquettes on stainless steel bases, with round metal tables. Illustrated panels in red, yellow and blue, Tokyo skylines and Japanese characters, enliven the partitions. Guests are welcomed at a stainless steel counter stamped with the M logo, on a dark paved floor.
