Pale counters and a Matsu Café corner in Grenoble
The room is bright and full of wood: walls of pale timber slats, long shelves filled with second-hand Japanese finds, kokeshi dolls, daruma, fans, vintage tins and magazines, and cylindrical pendants graded pink and blue above the counters. The stainless steel kaiten forms a U, with counter seating around it, complemented by pale wood tables and woven rope chairs. A pillar carries the katakana of the sign vertically, and one stretch of wall holds framed posters. At the entrance, the Matsu Café corner lines up its white lacquered counter, its espresso machine and its menu screens. Outside, the timber-clad facade sits under a glazed steel-framed hall.
