The first Matsuri conveyor belt sushi in Switzerland, in Eaux-Vives

Matsuri Genève marks our brand's arrival in Switzerland. Located on rue de la Mairie, in the lively Eaux-Vives district, a short walk from the lake and the bay, our Japanese restaurant in Geneva introduces Genevans to the kaiten, the revolving counter born in Osaka in the 1950s. Sushi, maki, sashimi and signature creations pass by in front of you: simply take the plate you fancy, at your own pace.

A Geneva partnership with Pesca Rouge

For this first Swiss address, Matsuri has teamed up with Pesca Rouge, a leading fishmonger in Carouge. This local partnership guarantees a selection and a freshness of seafood that live up to Geneva's standards. Every plate travelling along the belt is made with rigorously chosen fish, prepared the same day by our chefs.

The Matsu Bar: signature cocktails and handrolls made to order

Matsuri Genève is also home to the first Matsu Bar in Europe, a space dedicated to custom cocktails and handrolls prepared in front of you. It is the ideal spot for an after-work drink in Eaux-Vives, a dinner with friends or an evening that blends sushi and mixology in a pop setting inspired by Japanese culture.

Sushi restaurant in the heart of Geneva, between the lake and the city centre

The Eaux-Vives district is one of the liveliest in Geneva. A few minutes' walk from place du Molard, the Jet d'eau and Eaux-Vives station (Léman Express), Matsuri is easy to reach from anywhere in the city and the left bank: Champel, Plainpalais, the Old Town, but also Carouge, Chêne-Bougeries and Cologny. Whether for a quick weekday lunch or a family dinner at the weekend, the kaiten format suits every occasion.

What to try at Matsuri Genève?

Our menu brings together Japanese classics and the Japanese-Californian creations that define Matsuri: salmon and tuna nigiri, California rolls, Dragon rolls, nori tacos, gyoza, ramen and Japanese desserts. Plates are colour-coded by price, for complete transparency. Browse our full menu online before your visit.

Matsuri, a story that began in 1986

For nearly forty years, Matsuri has been developing its conveyor belt sushi bar concept in France, Luxembourg and now Switzerland. Geneva joins a network of landmark addresses in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille and Nice. Find all our locations on our restaurants page.

Portholes, sea-green banquettes and a gaming room in Geneva

The room plays a retro dining-car card: a dark wood coffered ceiling ringed with stainless steel, opal glass globes, burgundy-framed portholes set on cream walls, ribbed sea-green banquettes. The kaiten counters, wide pale worktops underlined by a continuous strip of light, alternate with tables and low seating. Near the entrance, the Matsu Café corner lines up an espresso machine and a display case under its raised sign. Shelves display Japanese pieces picked up second-hand: 45s, vintage tins, an enamel sign, kokeshi dolls. Set apart from the main room, a gaming room brings together three arcade cabinets on a pink plinth, walls covered with vintage posters and overhead lighting.
